The Questing (Audible Audio Edition) Kathryn Le Veque Tim Campbell Kathryn Le Veque Novels Books
The most touching words "my quest is you" have never been poignantly uttered by any of Ms. le Veque's heroes as they were spoken in this latest novel. This visually rich and beautifully written story centers on the recently widowed Lady Diamantha Edlington (daughter of Michael de Bocage from THE WOLFE). As her husband lay dying during the Battle of Falkirk he asks his friend, one of the greatest knights of the realm, Cortez de Bretagne, to grant him a dying wish by marrying his young widow. This was not a hardship for Cortez as he was recently widowed himself, and his dearly departed wife and Diamantha had been best of friends. Cortez had always thought, even during his previous marriage, that Diamantha was THE most beautiful woman in all of England. To him it was a win-win situation.
Of course, Diamantha didn't see the situation the same way Cortez did. After a very rocky head start between the hero and heroine Cortez agrees to take Diamantha and her daughter Sophie on the quest to recover Robert Edlington's body from the Falkirk battlefield for proper burial and for final closure on that chapter in Diamantha's life.
Along the way to Scotland from England, Cortez and Diamantha experienced many adventures. They were each able to see the other in a new light. The twists and turns in this story were a-ma-zing!
Diamantha's 'quest' was to recover her husband's body for closure so she could emotionally move on to the new chapter in her life with Cortez, and Cortez's 'quest' was Diamantha. Be prepared to clutch your heart as you read Cortez's tender vow to Diamantha. Also, have some tissues ready when you read the epilogue.
I savored each and every word of this long anticipated novel as if it were a box of expensive Swiss chocolate - it was THAT good!

The Questing (Audible Audio Edition) Kathryn Le Veque Tim Campbell Kathryn Le Veque Novels Books Reviews
The is an awesome book. I have read many of Kathryn Leveque's books; my favorite being The Wolf. And I must say that The Questing comes in second to The Wolf. The book is well written and covers an extensive ancestry. The compassion and understanding shown by Cortez is very touching. Not many books bring me to tears, but this one does. In a few of the reviews some people commented that the book was slow reading and one person went as far to say it was boring. This book is far from boring. I was not disappointed when I finished The Questing!
I have not usually been a medieval romance reader but this author was recommended to me. I have read two of her books so far, "The Questing" and "Lespada". Based on these two, I will be reading further.
"The Questing" has an interesting plot, well developed characters, and just enough romance and sex to make it interesting! This story is about the people, the situations they find themselves in, and the level of trust and respect that develops between two people who start off in conflict.
I highly recommend this book.
Cortez & Diamantha started their quest to find her husband's body, but they found much more. She bullied to get her way, but didn't realize how wretched & cruel the world was.
The great quest ended with Robert's body because things had come full circle & the great quest was closed.
Theirs was a love forged in sorrow, but a wee daughter & love forged a forever bond of love together with a little help from a "posey" ring.
The story of two people forced together by promises, this book contains a huge helping of sorrow, a fair bit of suspense, and ends in happily ever after. As would be expected. The glory of war is summarized quickly, and refuted with the same words, as the agony of not only the wounded from the battlefields is covered, but also that of the survivors.
The characters are deep, even the tiny child (perhaps most the child) as they wade desperately through the winding, mud-bogged roads Ms Le Veque insisted on giving them.
This is a relatively dark story. However, it had to be. It is what it had to be, and it is excellent.
What a truly amazing story that Ms. Kathryn Le Veque has wrote! I usually think sometimes that most medieval stories that I have usually read have the same basic formula in it the handsome hero meeting the beautiful virginal heroine but this story is nothing of the kind! Ms. Le Veque instead makes both the hero and heroine widows which is a little different than stories I have read previously.
I just really loved this story and could barely put the book down from starting off simply enough from the battle of Falkirk in Scotland with the tall, dark and handsome hero Cortez watching his best friend close to the end of battle shot with an arrow and slowly dying. Cortez promises his dying friend to take care, watch over and lastly to marry his beauteous fair wife the heroine Diamantha. From there Cortez goes back to Dorset England to tell Diamantha of what happened but Diamantha agrees to marry him on one condition that she will marry and commit to him but for Cortez to bring back his best friend Robert that he watched die in Scotland to bring him home. Yes, Diamantha marries Cortez in the beginning before they go on the quest but doesn’t really commit to him until later falling slowly but deeply passionately in love with him along the way. So the story is an expedition of not only going back to find him but along the way Cortez who is a widow and Diamantha a widow too find along the way adventure, heartache, loss, love but lastly themselves traveling from England back to Scotland to retrieve Robert and bring him home.
The story literally transports and takes you along on their odyssey of sorts too but the story isn’t all happiness and roses things even don't go according to plan just like any trip along the way bad horrible things happen and people plus their outlook overall changes sometimes for the worse or better. Also with some other incredible minor side characters that you can’t help but love too and Ms. Le Veque brings back some familiar characters from previous books as well as keeping you entrenched in the book enjoying the story happy yet sad for the hero, heroine and really all the characters until the very end!
Since I am the type of person that likes to over-analyze every little thing about books, plot points, major and minor characters Ms. Le Veque kept me totally happy with this book explaining fully ahead of time the plot points who the characters were I also wanted some of the characters to find happy endings especially Drake, James and Oliver plus there is also a family chart included which my only complaint is that I couldn’t make it appear any bigger on my kindle to see it but otherwise than that I just really wanted the story to go on and was saddened that it wasn’t an epic long read. I rated the book five stars can recommend it, will keep it in my library to read again and will definitely purchase more books from Ms. Le Veque!
